Raja specializes in Trademark law and Domain disputes within the field of intellectual property. He started Selvam and Selvam in 2007 as a boutique IP firm which has catered to the needs of entrepreneurs and multi-national corporations alike. He has several years of experience with handling the prosecution and enforcement of intellectual property rights of his client’s both locally and internationally.
With over nine years of experience Raja focuses his practice on all aspects related to Trademark and Domain Disputes ranging from Prosecution, Litigation, IP transactions like licensing and transfers, IP Audits and Due Diligence, Brand acquisition and entry into the market within India and the South Asian sub-continent.
Raja has been responsible for conducting several due diligence audits including a European Tissue and Personal Care brand prior to the entry into the Indian market. Raja was recently involved in the consolidation of the Trademark portfolio of Indian FMCG Fortune 500 Company subsequent to their recent de-merger.
In addition to his work in advising clients on their intellectual property, Raja is a visiting faculty of the Madras University where he conducts classes on IP for post graduate journalism students.
Prior to starting Selvam and Selvam, Raja worked for a prominent intellectual property law firm in Delhi. During the course of his work, he was responsible for the firm’s anti-counterfeiting and piracy actions on behalf of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
Raja has been listed by the Indian Business Law Journal, as a leading IP practitioner in the Country. Raja is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and a member of their Academic Committee; He contributes regularly to the Firm’s blog and publications.
