Navarre practices intellectual property law with a focus on Copyrights, Designs and Domain Disputes. Navarre also advises on trademark matters and handles contentious matters before the relevant judicial fora. Navarre Roy is also involved in the Firm’s growing commercial practice with regard to incorporations and general negotiating and drafting of commercial agreements.
With four years of experience in the field, Navarre is responsible for the prosecution and enforcement of Copyrights, Designs, Trademarks and Domains. He is actively involved in negotiations and dispute resolution for the Firm’s clients. Navarre also handles the drafting of commercial agreements and all IP transactions.
Navarre was responsible for retrieving over 15 domains from a single infringer for an internationally reputed Human Resource Company through negotiations. He was also responsible for defending an Indian IT Company in a patent infringement dispute in the UK.
Navarre is also a visiting faculty of the Madras University where he conducts classes on Copyright law for the University’s post graduate journalism students.
Prior to joining Selvam and Selvam, Navarre worked for the International Justice Mission, a human rights organization in assisting the government and prosecution in cases of Forced Labour and prostitution. He was involved in representing victims of Bonded Labour and Forced Prostitution in securing their release and working with the prosecution during the criminal proceedings.
