In the recent past, the office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (hereinafter called “CGPDTM”) has been striving to make prosecution relating to Intellectual Property Rights user-friendly and transparent. But in a surprise move, the CGPDTM is now focussing on educating the younger generation about Intellectual Property!
We had recently written about an order that was passed by the Controller General of Patent, designs and Trademarks restricting the amendments that can be made to a trademark application and hoped that IPAA would appeal this matter. It has come to our notice that IPAA in fact took up this matter before the Delhi High Court and the Court quashed the order passed by the Controller General of Patent, Designs and Trademarks on October 9, 2014.
We have been providing regular updates on the efforts taken by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) to achieve complete automation and more significant, absolute transparency(some of our articles on this could be found here and here). In yet another move towards transparency, the CGPDTM has now introduced “Stock and Flow based Dynamic Trademark Utility.”
